My favorite volunteer opportunity with Merchants Bank of Indiana is the Back to School Bash for the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County. For over 20 years, this event has held a special place in my heart because of the immediate impact it has on families, both in terms of education and finances.

I have such fond memories of the conversations I’ve had with the kind gentlemen and women who work at Wheeler Mission. One person who made a lasting impact on me was Mr. Samuel Brown, who explained to me the specific food items that were always running out. So, for my birthday, I organized a food drive for the Wheeler Mission. It was such a special gift to be able to make a substantial food donation.

I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. One of the most special moments for me was attending the home dedication of the family I was mentoring. Seeing the joy and happiness on their faces was something I will never forget.

Over the years, I have noticed a gap between the public and banking practices. With so many choices and constant information overload from social media, TV, and radio, it can be overwhelming for those who have not been taught the basics of banking. I am passionate about bridging this gap and making banking more accessible to everyone.

I love volunteering at the “Reality Store” with Communities in Schools! It is such a rewarding experience to guide 6th-9th graders as they make important life decisions based on their career choices. Volunteering allows me to bring these values out into our community and make a difference.

I have had such a wonderful experience working with the affordable lending mortgage team on Merchants sponsored community events at the Edna Martin Christian Center. This incredible center does so much for our inner-city community, especially for families who are struggling financially.
